The Local Governing Board's aim is to work closely with the Multi Academy Trust, Head of School and the staff, in order to help the children at the school achieve their full potential, in a happy, caring environment.
The key elements in achieving this aim are listed below:
- Monitoring the performance and progress of all the children at the school.
- Supporting the staff to teach and care for the children.
- In discussion with the Head of School, ensuring that the resources of the school are best utilised.
- Forward planning with the Head of School to ensure that the overall performance of staff, children, and hence the school, continues to improve.
To enable the Governors to achieve these objectives, the Board is made up of key groups within the school, parents, staff, the Local Authority, the Church and the community. Some of the Governors are appointed by the Diocese, whilst others are elected.
The appointing body for Foundation Governors is the NRCDES, and the appointing body for Parent Governors is the Local Governing Board.
The Board generally meets once a term the meetings and they focus on finance, staffing, buildings, health and safety and the curriculum. Individual members of the Governing Board focus on particular subjects, ie. Maths, English, ICT, etc.

Sarah Bright-Phillips - Vice Chair of Governors As a product of Catholic Education, I am keen to support St Norbert's as a Foundation Governor. I moved to Lincolnshire from the United States in 2013 with my husband and children. We are parishioners at Holy Trinity in Holbeach. My youngest son currently attends St Norbert's and my older children are at various stages in their professional and academic carers. I studied French and Philosophy at Saint Joseph's University, a Jesuit institution in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since leaving University I have been an equine professional, my husband and I currently run a small-scale horse breeding and training business. I look forward to the opportunity to serve our school. |

Malgorzata Derewonko – Parent Governor I was born and educated in Poland. After graduating from University, I came to work to England and started my family here. I am a mother of four children and all of them have been educated in St Norbert’s school, currently, two of my children are St Norbert’s pupils. I was brought up in the Catholic faith, therefore attending my children to this school was of great importance to me. I always have been impressed with the pastoral care the school gives to all of the pupils. I was appointed as a Foundation Governor 8 years ago as a committed Catholic parent. Being a Polish national I have a keen interest in understanding the British educational system and supporting other parents and children for whom English is an additional language. I am also supporting the school as a link governor for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Based on the school’s achievements, friendly environment, and the dedication of the staff, I would recommend Saint Norbert’s Catholic Primary School to anyone. |

Tom Harrison - Parent Governor I am married to Katie and we have two children, our eldest currently attends the school. I attended Spalding Grammar School and apart from when attending university I have always lived in the area. As an adult I have worked for Sainsbury’s Supermarkets for 16 years spending the last few in Group Internal Audit. I oversee the team that audits over 2200 Sainsbury’s and Argos stores. My role also requires me to challenge the business on how it manages its risks effectively at a corporate level while supporting it set and embed actions where not. I have experience in assessing the effectiveness of governance and risk management as well as more operational activity such as Health & Safety, Food Safety and Data Protection. On a personal level I am strong believer in the education system and understand my role as a Parent Governor is to represent the parent view point at all times to the schools leadership team. I am really looking forward to starting and hope to add value to the school for the benefit of all children, parents and staff.

Anna Maltby - Parent Governor I am completely new to the role of Parent Governor but chose to put myself forward after my two daughters joined St Norbert’s School. I am very much looking forward to learning all about the school, the Parent Governor role and the work of the Governors Board. I am a parent of three. I’m approachable, a good listener, have supported various charities over my years and I’m a great believer in parent carer involvement and participation. I therefore hope this valuable role will give me the opportunity to contribute to the excellent work already being done by the St Norbert’s School Team to support and nurture our children; in both their education and their personal, social and emotional wellbeing. Having taken a long break from my work to support the needs of my family, I now have the time and aspiration to get involved in something new, but had previously been working as a physiotherapist . As such I have considerable experience in assessing physical problem, having made a diagnosis, then designing and reviewing treatment program, therapeutic exercise etc which I hope will enable me to actively participate and add value to those relevant aspects of Governing Body.
